The Ecology and Natural Resource Teaching Area, commonly called the Range Area, administered by the Department Ecosystem Science and Management, is located in West Campus, southwest of Easterwood Airport.  Since 1946, it has provided a unique outdoor facility for teaching, research, and extension in natural resources.

The Range Area consists of 180 acres of forest, savanna, and grasslands which includes a field lab and teaching pavilion.  The field lab has a classroom, dry lab, garage/shop, dirt lab area with drying ovens, and storage, all of which are available for use by faculty and students. The field lab is fully stocked with tools, equipment, and vehicles which can be checked out for use in research projects.
